Description
This easy route tour leads from the village of Amden via Durschlegi, Underfurggle to Obloch, and then further to the alpine restaurant Walau and the Mattstock chairlift station.
Magnificent views
The first stopover is the Durschlegi viewpoint, which offers a unique panorama of the deep blue Lake Walensee. The Glarus Alps also present themselves here in all their glory. Got to know: If you go up to the transmission tower, a small hiking trail leads down to another bench. Here, an even better view to Weesen and the Federispitz awaits you.
Via Obloch to the chairlift station
We continue on the gravel road to Hasenboden and from there via Underfurggle to Oberfurggle. Instead of taking the direct way down, we take the path that leads first horizontally, then slightly upwards to Obloch. As the Swiss German word "-loch" means "hole" in English, some people might expect some kind of hole. However, this small plateau is more like a wonderful panoramic terrace to linger on. :-)
Directly in front of the large rocky outcrop "Schibenchnölli" you descend to the alpine restaurant Walau and from there down to the mountain station of the Mattstock chairlift.
Mountain restaurants for a cosy stopover
Since May 2021, the Walau restaurant has been open again. The family restaurant at the mountain station of the Mattstock chairlift offers home-style meals in a modern ambience. Another option for stopping in is the Restaurant Holzstübli and the Alpstübli Strichbode.
